Sleepy Hollow is a beautifully made film that should be loved by any fan of Burtons films.
Some of the special effects were somewhat suspect but the headless horseman itself and the overall mood of the film dont suffer and remain brilliantly dark. While nowhere near the majesty of its Hammer and Bava inspirations, this is a great film. The all-star cast all give near perfect performances especially Depp himself. And everything - so it could be controlled - was shot on a soundstage.

The movie looks like a combination of a Hammer film and a Mexico horror movie with Mario Bava joining in. Oh yeah - and Casper Van Dien from Starship Troopers. Michael Gough, who was in Burton’s Batman films, came out of retirement just to be in this movie. Martin Landau shows up in an uncredited role and Lisa Marie plays Ichabod’s mother, who was killed for practicing witchcraft.
